Ashley and Aaron
It was a last minute thing. They really wanted to do photos in a sunflower field, and after they saw I posted one on my Instagram they reached out to see if they could schedule their engagement session at Dorothea Dix Park. The trouble was, it was the end of the sunflower blooming period. Already the flowers were starting to wilt, the bold golden heads bowing to the season. So we really didn't have the time to wait until this weekend. These messages were all exchanged last Wednesday night, and with the desire to still be able to do a sunflower shoot with them I suggested we do them Thursday evening (as in the next day). Without hesitation, Ashley messaged back and said with all excitement that they could make that work, but little did I know how much they would have to do to make that work!
In my rush to make scheduling work, I completely forgot where they lived. These two drove all the way from Virginia in the middle of a work with less than 24 hours notice to make this happen, and if I'm being honest I think it was worth it. Ashley and Aaron joked about being nervous for posing and photos, but really they're naturals, simply because they just really enjoy being with each other. Ashley teased Aaron on his driving and sporadically tickled his rib cage. Aaron mustered a Carmen voice (from South Park) to whisper sweet nothings. They danced, played the knock over game, and leaned into that dusky, dimming sun amidst the flowers. It was a dream.
