Leanne and Andrew
Shooting this wedding was surreal. As I traveled back to the state of my birth, and the city where I learned to talk and walk and catch my first fireflies, I felt humbled and excited to see how things have come full circle. As I shared in their engagement session, Leanne was my neighbor and lived across the street from me, and attending/shooting their wedding felt like a reunion with childhood. Not only did I get to see Leanne’s family again, but also her maid of honor who was another one of The Gen. Armstrong road neighbor-kids.
This day was a mixture of nostalgia, fairytale romance, and sheer elegance. The Duportail House gave me all the historical colonial feels, and was such a lovely change of scenery from North Carolina’s plantation-styled venues. It was an intimate and classical setting for Leanne and Andrew’s day.
Having only seen these two together once before in their engagement session, it was such an honor to be given a front seat in this huge moment in their lives. Andrew is vivacious, confident, and bold. Leanne is gentle, graceful, and strong. Their personalities, although seemingly different, were so evidently melded together. The morning was a commotion, and Leanne really just needed to know he was there. I remember her asking him if he could walk her down the aisle instead, because he was all that she wanted. During the reception, Andrew ardently and beautifuly sang the heart-felt “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran to Leanne. He was her strength, she his inspiration.
The day came off beautifully, even when the timeline got mixed up. We had less than fifteen minutes of light left (and I’m talking before complete darkness) to take their portraits. For most people, it takes a bit of time to warm up, jump in, and let those intimate moments unfold, but they melted into each other instantly like the sun melted into the trees, softly and sleepily, and in light of blue-hour, they, walking hand-in-hand, looked like a dream.
I couldn’t be more happy for you two (or should I say three, because we can’t forget about the famous instagram personality of their their Cavalier, Sir). I wish you guys the absolute best! Oh and just for fun….I thought I would include a throwback ;)
