Caitlin and Aaron

Caitlin and Aaron’s wedding fell on the last October weekend, an incredibly mild day in Raleigh at the Meadows. I climbed the stairs in the home to find Caitlin getting finishing touches on her hair and makeup, and as she sat on the edge of the bed reading Aaron’s note, she shed a tear or two but she was radiant. Surrounded by friends who were sisters, she dressed and descended the stairs to see her groom. Aaron, donning a stately blue suit, walked up the hill from the groom’s suite and under the tree waiting for Caitlin to tap his shoulder.

As we waited for the wedding party to join us for photos, we walked towards the tree line. The sun peaked over the pine’s tops, and the warm colored dried grass invited the couple into a wild, romantic field. It was just them, and their joy and giddiness to finally be here was felt as Aaron swept her up and Caitlin’s smile beamed.

The wedding party shortly joined us, with champagne in tow. The groomsmen, bridesmaids, and the couple walked across the field, arm in arm as the ceremony time drew near. As the guys entered, the theme song of Game of Thrones played from the string quartet. The guests laughed. I’m happy to say that I have no doubt that Caitlin and Aaron’s marriage will be more successful than the 8th season (can I get an amen?). The clouds covered the sun’s harsh light long enough for the couple to say their vows and share a kiss.

After the ceremony, the couple and I headed to the field once more as golden hour approached. They walked by the vineyards, twirled barefoot, held each other in the dying light. Before the couple joined the reception, they shared a glass of whiskey, a bottle they had buried on the property a year before. And with that, the celebration began.

I couldn’t help get emotional when Caitlin’s grandmother shared a toast with her granddaughter and new grandson. When the guests took the stage for some impromptu karaoke I couldn’t take photos fast enough. The evening blazed on with delicious cake, cocktails, dancing and chatting under the stars.

I am so happy for these two, and beyond thankful to have been allowed to capture the day their lives started together.
