Kristen and Noah
I was so excited to shoot Kristen and Noah’s engagement at this really great (undisclosed) location that I have been dying to try out. These two met me with the same energy that I had, despite the surprisingly chilly spring wind that had no mercy on us. They were truly excited to try anything, whether it was traipse through really long, dead (and potentially critter inhabited) grass, dance with abandon on a hillside, and fully throw themselves into the moment with each other.
This engagement photo session invigorated me for a lot of reasons…not only did I use an incredibly beautiful spot that gave me all the Scotland hillside/Asheville vibes with all those good good lines, but I loved capturing their movement, their truly raw laughs and emotions, their all too necessary cuddles and the closeness that emanated from them. Although the temperature dropped and the wind came on fiercely at the top of the hill, their positive attitudes kept them smiling, and it encouraged me to press into my creativity. As golden hour fell upon us, I dabbled with some shots in direct sunlight, something that photographers often avoid at all costs. The vibrant and dusky hues and the romantic lull in these images seriously has me thinking I need to do this more. I have been pleasantly reminded that being an artist is greatly wrapped up in the task of honestly capturing real relationships. Sometimes it looks like taking a perfectly situated image that combines the best golden light but sometimes its a blurry dance picture.
All this is today, that these kind souls are getting married this summer, and I cannot wait to capture more of this golden light and these golden humans.
