Erin and David
Erin and David were two of those people who I instantly wanted to be friends with. For the first ten minutes of the session we just sat at their favorite bar, Alley Twenty Six, talking about the menu items, having red hair, and wedding plans. But conversation quickly moved past wedding stuff (and thank goodness! Does anyone else feel like when you’re engaged that’s the only thing people ask you about?!). We moved outside, begrudged the people who lined this beautiful alley with posters, talked about Erin’s vegan hair products that in a pinch can work as a great barbecue baster, and just laughed a whole lot. These two just genuinely like dating each other. They teased each other relentlessly and kept the other laughing.
As lifestyle photographer, I intentionally think through ways to get clients comfortable with themselves, to get them relaxed….but sometimes I get a little carried away. When we walked over to the collums at the Durham hotel, I had David lean in for a kiss, and weary to avoid the dreaded duck-face/stiff kiss, I shouted “Kiss her but not like you’re kissing your mom” which resulted into an eruption of laughter. He lost it. She lost it. I lost it. All that is to say is that we had a heck of a lot of fun.
As the sun swung low, we headed towards Cocoa Cinnamon to warm up our insides. This was my favorite part of the session. It really felt like I could step back and just capture a typical date night unfurl. Clients and nights like these are the silver lining of this job. I CANNOT wait till Saturday guys.
