Purchase Family

Once upon a time I was JUST starting out as a photographer and this lady was there to help me. 

Erin Purchase, my cousin who is pretty much a sister, has been an incredible mentor for me as I grew my photography business, and this past Christmas I got to photograph her family and it was so much fun. I loved getting a glimpse at the sibling dynamics—between the three. Each kid is so unique. Watching Erin and Jimmy love and parent them (with so much humor and grace) was such a gift. There were tears, lots of bribing with raisins, laughs, and even a wipe out in the dirt, but I loved. every. minute. of. It. 

When I was first starting out, Erin was so encouraging and helpful, talking me through how to price my packages, sending me blog posts, and constantly encouraging me to keep shooting and keep growing. Having her in those early stages to bounce ideas off of was crucial, and I know that because of her, my business is where I it is today. On top of mentoring me in photography, she has also been such an open and honest ear, encouraging me in greatly to take care of myself when it comes to mental health and faith. I cannot stress enough how important it is to find someone who loves you enough to be honest, pushes you in your field or craft, and listens. The best photographers or creatives didn’t get there alone.
