Alison and Kevin
When I photographed Kevin and Alison’s wedding, I had no idea that it would be the last wedding I would photograph for the next several months. The precautions being taken due to Covid-19 was just beginning to ramp up, and I don’t think a lot of us quite knew what was about to take place.
But this wedding isn’t about Covid-19. It’s about Alison and Kevin. Despite the looming panic of the pandemic, their day of celebration was beautiful. Kevin and Alison elected to have a very small wedding party, a maid of honor and a best man only. I loved the intimacy of their wedding day morning. Alison got ready with only her mom and her best friend. Capturing the sweet moments between Alison and her mom emphasized their deep friendship and trust. while Kevin drank a beer with his best man at Pour in down town Durham, waiting for the first look.
Honestly, the whole day was built around intimacy—these two made it a point to carve out time to breath and be together. They were incredibly gracious and affable hosts—no doubt. But, their main goal was not to entertain their guests. They were intent on drawings close and taking in the moments that passed between them and around them.
It’s a little surreal to scroll through this pre-covid-19, pre-social distancing wedding, but its lovely to take a break from pandemic craze and celebrate with them.
